Welcome to the Precisely How We Recovered meeting of SAA. My name is ________________. I am a sex addict.
I have asked a friend to read the preamble.
The format of this meeting is a bit different than many others. We will take turns reading the Big Book. Discussion relating to what is read is encouraged. In accordance with the Tenth Tradition, the leader will help keep the discussion from straying to outside issues. To reinforce learning what we read, we will read the study guide and answer its questions.
Also in keeping with the Tenth Tradition there will be no “check ins.” If you need to discuss a personal issue, please talk to someone after the meeting. Other options are to call someone on your phone list, talk to your sponsor, or attend a meeting where such sharing is appropriate.
In the middle of the meeting we will take up a collection to help the Outer Circle Club defray its expenses. We will also pass a phone list twice. Adding your name or taking numbers is optional.
First Steps and mini-First Steps can be done at another meeting. We will be happy to join you in your Third Step Prayer.
Let’s introduce ourselves using first names only. I’m _________. I am a sex addict.
[Introductions]
After a moment of silent meditation, would someone like to lead us in the set aside prayer?
God,
Please help me set aside
Everything I think I know
About myself, my disease,
These steps, and You;
For an open mind
And a new experience
With myself, my disease,
These steps, and You.
Please help me see the truth.
We will now read the first 164 pages of the AA Big Book. After we complete each chapter, we will read the study guide.
[Study session: as described above]
The meeting time has come to an end. would someone like to lead us in a prayer? It can be personal, the Serenity Prayer, the Lord’s Prayer, or the Third Step Prayer. If not, the leader will choose.
